the Aviation
A high flying gin classic.
The Aviation debuted in the nineteen-teens in New York, at the beginning of the pioneering era of powered flight. It’s a gin sour with added zing. (Many recipes call for violet liqueur, which is hard to find and we think unbalances the flavor. If you can do without the lavender color it gives, use the recipe below instead.)
three quarters oz Luxardo Maraschino Cherry syrup
half oz combined lemon and lime juice
Shake with ice and strain into martini glass. Garnish with lemon or lime slice.
