About Pawtucket Backpackers

The Pawtucket Backpackers are a group of caring community members that want to fight hunger among our students. With 77% poverty in our schools, the need is great.

We are currently providing food assistance to 250 students on weeks including vacation weekends. Each child receives 2 breakfast items, two lunch/dinner items and 2 snack items. The cost per student is approximately $3.50 per week. 100% of the funds contributed provide food supplement. There are no paid employees. All work is done through volunteers, from shopping, packing and delivery.
